There are several free resources online that can assist laypersons and clergy alike in their studies. One of those is http://www.projectwittenberg.org/ which contains writings of Lutherans and other contemporaries of their times. Also, another good resource is the Wartburg Center (https://www.alts.edu/the-wartburg-center#W1) on the American Lutheran Theological Seminary website. There is a collection of free Google Books that the ALTS have compiled together (https://books.google.com/books?uid=114782284091513542911&source=gbs_lp_bookshelf_list) Enjoy!
